The Return of Battletech

Image
Battletech is one of my favorite franchises. You have a rich and sordid history, filled with heroes, villains, epic battles, betrayals and triumphs, oh and big, stompy robots. Battletech has so many things under its umbrella. Miniatures, video games, novels, even a cartoon. It has risen in popularity and waned over its life. There was a period it was on life support. After the extremely successful kickstarter it is back with a vengeance. One of my earliest memories while living in England, a friend had picked up a copy of 2nd Edition. We didn't know what was going on, but there were maps, dice, and cardboard cutouts of these badass robots. We played, though I know for a fact, not by the rules, but we had fun. When we moved back stateside my next experience with Battletech was through the computer. There was an Infocom 3 pack of the Crescent Hawks Inception, the Crescent Hawks Revenge, and the original Mechwarrior. I beat Inception, couldn't get into Revenge, and spent I don&#

My love/hate relationship with Games Workshop

I started with GeeDub in the mind 90's when Necromunda was out, and 40K had moved from 2nd Edition to 3rd Edition. Like most players, I started a Space Marine army. I'm certainly more of a hobbyist, loving the assembly and painting aspect more than actually playing.  I also had a large Necron force, when they were all metal. You had the options of a Lord, Destroyers, Warriors, and Scarabs.  This is also when the Tau got introduced, and I dove in on them. A blast to assemble, fun to paint, but I sold them off when I was preparing to move to Texas. After the move to Texas, 4th Edition was released The starter set,the Battle for McCragge, was marines vs Tyranids. I had never considered them before, but over I time I had assembled as sizable force of Tyranids. Under Cities of Death rules, my bugs were rough to go against, being a horde army, and if enough models were in cover, the whole brood was in cover. As 4th edition wound down, I started looking into 5th edition, but never pi

First post - why a gaming blog?

I've been a gamer as long as I can remember. I love all kinds of games. Board games. Card games. Video games. Computer games. Miniature games. Table-top Role Playing Games. I honestly have things to say about them, and this gives me a forum to post my ramblings, as well as pictures of various projects.  I don't know how often I'll post. It could be frequent or infrequent, depends on what is going on at the time. As I've been cleaning up my office area I've also come across a lot of old minis that I had forgotten I had. Going through my Google Photos, I've also found a lot of old pictures I had taken, but forgotten I had.  I don't have a real agenda, but I am dragging you along for the ride!
